There is widespread policy support for working with LGBT young people throughout the UK.
This service is for people and groups who are working to establish a youth group specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) young people in their city, town or area.
The programme can also be used to support existing LGBT youth groups to become more sustainable into the future.
The model to set up LGBT Youth project is based on the experience of BeLonG Too in Ireland, who has worked to develop resources and an accredited approach to LGBT youth work and has agreed to share their experience and support with the LGBT Excellence Centre.
The programme contains a step-by-step approach to establishing an LGBT youth group, which was developed through the experience of establishing and growing youth services.
Each step was developed in consultation with a number of experts in the field of Youth Work and have been compiled to provide a straight forward approach to groups on how to ensure an LGBT youth group is created and sustained in a youth-focused and safe manner.
