Ceri Harris - Chair
I have been working in the equality field since 1998, including volunteering work with Save the Children and a years placement with the then Equal Opportunities Commission, before becoming the Senior Equality Officer for Cardiff Council and now the Equality Manager for Velindre NHS Trust. During that time I have been involved in policy change and service provision in the area of sexual orientation and gender identity. This includes leading the consultation on civil partnership for Cardiff Council, where the council agreed to provide full ceremonies as part of the civil partnership registration and Cardiff has one of the largest take up of partnerships registered in the first month and training being provided to radiographers and screeners in Breast Test Wales on Transgender issues.I was one of the original member s of the South East Wales LGB Forum, formed in 2004 and am currently Vice Chair of Women Connect First and an honorary board member for the Valleys Regional Equality Council as well as sitting on various equality groups and partnerships.I believe in fairness, respect and dignity and I hope my work and commitment reflect this; I became a trustee for the LGBT Excellence Centre as I was impressed with the level of dedication and its aims to empower and achieve better equality for everyone.
Jenny-Anne Bishop
I'm Jenny-Anne Bishop, a Trans woman, born in London 1946, now living in Rhyl, North Wales. I’ve been a Transgender person as long as I can remember (from about 4). I came out socially 1971 & was diagnosed Transsexual by Dr. John Randall (Charring Cross Gender Identity clinic) in 1980. I decided not to transition at that time as I was married with young children, who I love dearly and felt committed to, until they grew up, mostly cross-dressing as male, with limited opportunities to be my real self. My Children are now grown up with their own families. I'm divorced and living with my partner Elen who is also a Trans woman. So I can finally live full time as Jenny-Anne. Since 2000 I've been actively involved in the management of TransForum, Unique, TREC, MCCM (LGBT Church), Encompass (LGBT group), Cheshire Rainbow (LGBT Group), TranzNet, and Sibyls (Christian TG group). Now I’m able to spend most of my time helping the Trans-Community through support groups & education of the wider community.
Gareth WIlliams
As an educationalist working in the Secondary and Higher Education sectors, I have long been interested in the sphere of sexual identity and gender equality both from a pastoral and academic angle. I’ve some experience in counselling LGBT individuals as a former University Chaplain at Glamorgan. I would regularly attend meetings at which I was asked to speak and as result came to be seen as someone who would support the equality and rights of the LGBT community on Campus. Whilst at Glamorgan I also came out as Gay. As a result, I have tried to help achieve a greater degree of equality for LGBT peoples within my former working sphere (the Church) and have had articles published on the BBC website setting out a theological defence for the rights of the LGBT community. I’ve written on sexual identity and its association with spirituality. I have spoken at an LGBT History Month Education Conference in Cardiff on why it is people who are homophobic and not religion, per. se. I am also a member of the South Wales Gay Men’s Chorus believing that the equality and human rights of the LGBT community is indeed a social enterprise and that that can be advanced through the creative arts.

I believe passionately in the advancement of LGBT equality issues and over the last few years have become increasingly active in working to support initiatives aimed at breaking down prejudice and tackling oppression associated with an LGBT identity. As a transgender person I am out and proud as genderqueer trans-grrl - carving a new model for transgender that seeks to open further the bandwidth for others. I work as a Cognitive Behavioural Pyschotherapist and Counsellor with particular specialisms in gender and sexual minority issues and research and clinical interests in adult ADHD. I am the author 'Queering The Tranny' a book that offers new perspectives on male-to-female gender queering and endeavours to bring new ways of doing and being transgender as a congruent and valid identity to a wider audience. Endlessly driven I have interests in numerous creative endeavours from signwriting and photography, to gardening and cookery, to owning and restoring vintage fairground equipment oh, and my two vintage showman's lorries. It is this combination of drive, energy, passion and creativity that I am bringing to my role as a trustee wtih the LGBT Excellence Centre.
