The LGBT Excellence
Centre offers advice and support services to lesbian, gay, bisexual
and transgender (LGBT) people in housing crisis. A helpline and
one-to-one mentoring services are the crux of the advice and
support provision.
Our
helpline is designed to provide advice, information and support to
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people who have any degree
of a housing problem across the whole of Wales.
Callers with legal
issues are referred to in-house Casework Manager. Close working
relations with partner agencies mean that issues which cannot be
fully addressed in-house or are best met by a more specialist
service can be referred on to our partners.
Our service
aims:
To provide information
for LGBT people who are homeless, in housing crisis or
facing any form of housing problem.
To ensure that
vulnerable lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people understand
their rights with respect to the homelessness and housing
legislation.
To provide a resource
to housing and support providers to enable them to be sensitive and
aware in their provision of services to LGBT people.
To
assist local authorities and other social landlords to respond more
effectively to their responsibility to vulnerable LGBT
people.
To assist with
providing advice and where appropriate, advocacy on legal housing
matters and disputes.
