The aims of the Wales
Council for LGBT People are to:
Share information,
learning and good practice that is relevant to the LGBT sector in
Wales. This could include funding, news, events, policies,
research, training and jobs.
Ensure that the LGBT
Excellence Centre's support services provided to groups are
reflective of their needs.
Promote lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender sector activities to the network, with an
emphasis on local activities for local groups.
Provide the
opportunity for voluntary and community groups to have a greater
influence over what happens locally as well as at a national
level.
Communicate the needs
and activities of the voluntary and community groups to the wider
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Maintain and provide a
comprehensive map of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
organisations across Wales.
Allow more
opportunities for partnership and collaborative working between
members of the Council.
Develop partnerships
with mainstream local voluntary sector support
services.
Publicise the findings
and recommendations from the LGBT Excellence Centre's LGBT sector
survey and produce a strategy improving support forLGBT
organisations and groups in Wales.
Contribute to the
evidence base around the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender people.
